Places around La Defense, Paris

On our way to the metro train.

Aiman is always cheerful and playful.

Part of the building landscape.

In front of Grande De Arch.

All buildings are made of glass wall and very transparent. No curtain.

In front of 'The finger' in front of CNIT building.

Grande De Arch at night.

A work of art made of recycle zinc.

The rusty zinc is turned into a splendid work of art at night.

A fine work.

Hotel des Invalides

You can see here that there are two walls surrounding the compound of the hotel. Actually it is a big concrete ditch to protect the place in the old times. This was a military site before it is being turned into a hotel in the modern days.
ditch - a narrow channel dug in the ground, typically used for drainage alongside a road or the edge of a field.

The entrance of the hotel.

The first front. The hotel is double frontage. There's no back door.

At the centre inside the hotel compound.

A tame pigeon. I get to touch it. Pigeon is normally very shy.

The place is practically surrounded by tens of this stuff. Behind is Musee de I'Armee or military museum. In Europe there are hundreds of museums. An informative culture of the west.

One of the world first tank car.

The top of the golden dome.

This is the other entrance. The main entrance I think.

This is what I think the barrack of the soldiers in those days. Situated beside the main building.

Aiman outside the compound. You can see the concrete ditch clearly from here. The ditch that kept the enemy away from the compound.

Eiffel Tower

After a 10 minute walk from Metro train station, we arrived at a park behind Eiffel Tower.

On the way to a different Metro station. Aiman wore a coverall only since the weather is not very cold anymore. Around 12 degree celsius around this time since it's the beginning of spring.

From underneath Eiffel Tower.

Throng of people coming to see Eiffel Tower everyday. A visit to Paris is not complete without visiting it.

Almost like in a film.

Forgot to edit and erase the pimples. This is the original.

Arch De Thriumph

With Aiman infront of the Arch.

Behind us is an open top bus. For tourists.

Underneath the Arch.

From top of the Arch, we can see La Defense, where we stay in Paris.

Sacre De Cour, one of Paris tourist spot. We went there on the day we arrived.

Taking a rest after climbing down. The stairs are 5 storey high. Aiman was upset when we stopped after 4 storey climb. He said we are reaching the top. My super boy.

Iron bars to keep spectators safe.

Spring & Norte Damme

Aiman took this photo. Not bad for a six years old boy.

Spring is clearly in the air. This tree reminds me of sakura flower of Japan.

Aiman is excited watching a river cruise along the Seine river.

Paris is spectacular at night with all the glittering lights.

Norte Damme. One of Paris icons.

Thera are open top bus and open top river cruise in Paris.

A site nearby Norte Damme. Some young guys are seen changing attire to take a dip inside the cold water. They had better have a cup of hot coffee standing by.

Our morning walk in Paris

Look like cheery but it's not. A local plant.

I just can't resist flowers.

In remembrance of Charles De Gaulle, France's most famous president.

Spring is in the air. The temperature today is 12 degree celsius and is getting warmer everyday.

Around the park compound.

The building behind Aiman with the red sign board is our apartment hotel - Adagio. We are staying on the first floor.

La Defence is an area full of high rise buildings. The rest of Paris, the buildings are just about six to eight floor high.

Musee D'Lourves

Lourves Museum is originally a palace. When the king built a new grandeur palace, this old palace was changed into a museum to store all the king's collections.

The triangle structure is a modern addition, inspired by the pyramids of Egypt.

The external entrance. We enter the museum through underground entrance, coming out from the metro train.

It's the first sunday of the month - a day where entrance to all museums are free.

This is as far as we can get to the Monalisa painting - from the far side. Throng of people surrounded the drawing all the time.

Part of the old palace.

Overlooking one of the giant painting, I looked as classic as the painting itself.

I and Monalisa - no resemblance at all.
